Overview

Chester, England, is home to the public University of Chester. The university was established as the first purpose-built teacher training college. Now this University has five campus locations in and around Chester, one in Warrington, and a University Centre in Shrewsbury. It also conducts academic research and offers a variety of foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate courses.

The university is a member of Universities UK, the North West Universities Association, the Cathedrals Group, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. In accordance with the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), it holds the Silver Award.

Only the universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, and London are older than the University of Chester, making it England’s fifth-oldest university.
