Queen Mary University of London has announced the launch of its pioneering Centre for Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. Housed within the Queen Mary Academy, this innovative initiative aims to embed AI literacy into the University’s teaching and learning practices, delivering transformative benefits for students, educators, and employers.
The centre is designed to empower University staff with professional development opportunities and cutting-edge resources to enhance teaching with AI and digital literacy at its core. This effort will directly benefit students by equipping them with advanced AI skills highly sought after in today’s competitive job market, setting them apart from their peers.
Led by Dr. Xue Zhou, Academic Head, and Dr. Aisha Abuelmaatti, Deputy Academic Head, the centre is also collaborating closely with employers to align its training and skill development with workforce needs.
Professor Colin Bailey, President and Principal of Queen Mary University, highlighted the significance of the initiative: “By launching this Centre for Excellence, we are demonstrating our commitment to equipping students and educators with the AI-related skills they need for the future, both in terms of teaching and employability.”
